Moving together: Our Gunz team unites for a good cause. The pupils from Mäder secondary school made a pilgrimage to the start in front of our company in the morning.
A kilometre full of heart and hope
The first kilometre as a strong sign for the common cause: Gunz employees, 150 pupils from Mäder secondary school and the Mäder school home ran the first kilometre of the 10,000km challenge together.
On Monday 4 November, the starting signal was given for the ‘10,000 kilometre challenge’, a joint initiative by Gunz and ORF Vorarlberg. The aim of the challenge was to collect a total of 10,000 kilometres over a week (4 to 10 November) in order to donate money for every kilometre.
The start day began with a pleasant surprise: Mäder secondary school spontaneously joined in and brought 150 pupils to walk the first kilometre of the challenge together with Gunz employees, children and carers from the Mäder Schulheim. The challenge, which started in front of our company, led over one kilometre to the Mäder Schulheim and symbolised the joint commitment to LICHT INS DUNKEL.
Afterwards, kilometres were diligently collected all over the country throughout the week and Vorarlberg made it! The 10,000 kilometre challenge for ‘Licht ins Dunkel’ was a complete success: thanks to the impressive support of people from all parts of Vorarlberg, 10,000 kilometres were covered in one week - roughly equivalent to the distance from Austria to Los Angeles as the crow flies. Everyone could take part - regardless of age, fitness level or type of exercise. Whether sporty or leisurely, on foot, by bike, with a rollator or in a wheelchair - every movement counted and was added to the overall target of 10,000 kilometres, which could be cracked on Sunday morning.
And we have now converted these 10,000 kilometres into a donation of 30,000 euros, which will benefit LICHT INS DUNKEL. A big thank you to everyone who took part and made this campaign possible!!

"It was wonderful to experience this community and the solidarity. Seeing how our employees, the pupils from Mäder secondary school and the children from the school home walked side by side moved me deeply. Every step along the way symbolised what we can achieve together for LICHT INS DUNKEL. This campaign showed that we can all make a difference - big or small, young or old. I am proud of our team and everyone who supported this challenge. Together we bring light and hope to dark times. Thank you to everyone involved!"
