All Ronald McDonald children's aid homes were delighted to receive a sweet present shortly before Christmas. All four homes (Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Graz) were given each a entire delivery of chocolates, snacks, cookies, pastries and juices.

Around the christmas holidays, help in form of donations are especially valuable. We refrain from any customer gifts and we point the way to "charity" by supporting people in need, sick kids, social- and disabled people projects.
This year we have chosen 5 social organizations, which received together more than € 20.000 in form of donation contributions.

Gunz Shop-Opening in Manhattan

In order to better serve the american market, Gunz America Corp. has opened a retail store in New York City (101 University Place) on September 11, 2013.
Approx. 250 articles out of the Gunz assortment are offered on 150 m2 retail space. „With this step we would like to gain even more experience with our products in the U.S. In addition, the store has also the purpose as a showroom for our distributors. Similar as already practiced at the headquarters in Austria. We already can tell after the first few weeks, that our products are very well received by our american customers“, Nicole Hummer from Gunz America Corp. stated.
Generation change at the end of the year

Helmut Gunz (55), company founder of the Gunz Warenhandels GmbH with headquarters in Mäder (Vorarlberg/AT), will commit the management at the end of the year.
In talk with Helmut Gunz: „After 27 years of intensive establishment of the Gunz Warenhandels GmbH, the time is ripe to put my tasks into younger hands. I’m lucky that my niece Simone and my nephews Stefan and Daniel are involved in the company since many years and they are ready and encouraged to take over even more responsibilities. The handover was well prepared and planned, now it’s time for implementation. The company has a stable base and an excellent position, it’s the perfect point of time to be continued in the second generation.
Personally, I’m pleased to be able to make this step whilst in best health and I’m looking forward to spending more quality time with myself and my family.
The Gunz Warenhandels GmbH, with currently 180 employees, has developed into a global company since its founding in 1986 by Helmut Gunz. This year the 100 million sales mark will be exceeded for the first time. Customers in over 80 countries all over the world are supplied. In addition to the headquarters in Mäder (Vorarlberg/AT), the second logistic center in Magdeburg (Sachsen-Anhalt/DE) was established one year ago. Sales branches are also located in Switzerland and the United States. Furthermore Gunz is holding 50 % of the software company MIA Systems & Software GmbH.
The shares of Helmut Gunz will be taken over by his brother Werner, who has been sharing the management with Helmut for over 17 years. Starting with 2014 he will be sole responsible for the management of the company. His three children will form the management board with responsibilities for the areas operational management (Stefan – 29 years – since 11 years in the company), human resources management (Simone – 26 years – since 9 years in the company) and purchasing & product range management (Daniel – 23 years – since 6 years in the company).
Soccer-Stars are flying with InterSky and Gunz-Catering

The soccer-stars of Borussia Dortmund and FC Genua have following in common on board: Both teams take advantage of the InterSky-charter flights in order to get to their training camps and Gunz Warenhandels GmbH as a supplier provides the board catering for InterSky.
Gunz Mäder: Investment in a high quality storage

An existing warehouse in Mäder was recently upgraded with a cooling system. Now there are nearly 4.000 cooled pallet spaces at the headquarters in Austria, instead of the previous 800 cooled spaces before. So the high quality and a good storage of our chocolate products are now guaranteed. This is very important, especially in the warm summer months.
Now are about 12.000 pallet spaces cooled (of overall 30.800 in Mäder and Madgeburg).

19.300 pallet spaces in Magdeburg, from which are about 8.000 cooled
Gunz Magdeburg: Donation for flood-victims

As reported constantly by the media, the flood in Magdeburg damaged many places. We were very lucky because our company in Magdeburg was not damaged at all. This is certainly due to the many volunteer helpers which have done a great job in the past days.
So we want to support the rebuildings of the city Magdeburg with a donation of € 50.000,-.

Product quality impressed the expert jury - Extensive tests
The DLG food testing centre awarded Gunz Warenhandels GmbH with eight gold, six silver and two bronze medals for the quality of their products. In the international quality testing for bread and pastries the food experts from DLG (German Agricultural Society) rated the quality of a total of 3081 products. The winners and their award-winning products can be found under www.dlg.org/Backwaren.
To obtain a DLG award the products underwent extensive sensory tests. For this, the DLG developed a descriptive and evaluative testing method that is scientifically sound and internationally recognized. For example, besides appearance, surface and crusting properties in baked goods, the structure and elasticity are also assessed. For the characteristics smell and taste a careful selection of raw materials, the optimum material ingredients (recipe) and the processing and product design are crucial. Random chemical, microbiological and physical sampling complete the test result.
DLG Test Centre, which is accredited to international standards, is the European leader in the quality assessment of food The "DLG Prize" gold, silver or bronze is awarded to tested products that meet the DLG quality criteria.
